WEEK IN REVIEW JUNE 4 – JUNE 10, 2018

weekinreview

This Friday marks the 2-weeks anniversary of the start of our family’s summer break. It’s been an interesting transition as far as carrying over schedules and accomplishing as much as I’d like day-to-day. My sleep patterns are definitely improved by not having to wake up before the sun to get the kiddos to school. I love that my Fitbit can track my sleeping patterns. Before our break I was averaging two quality sleeps a week. Now I’m up to 3. Progress! We’ll keep the adventures coming through the summer, putting fitness challenges through their paces to see what kind of results we can get, and expanding our knowledge and lives by consuming personal development courses and excellent books from great teachers so that we can bring their insight back to you.

THIS PAST WEEK’S FITNESS GOALS

This is week six of my participation in the Body Reset Program by FatlossManifesto.com. I don’t want to give away too much as far as results until the week is over. I will say that I’ve created what I hope will be lifelong habits by participating in this program. The fasting workouts every morning are fantastic, and have really set me on a fast track to health. I’ll talk more about my heart rate changes, how much weight I’ve lost and how many inches I’ve lost so far next week.

MINDVALLEY CLASS: JEFFREY ALLEN: EMBRACE YOUR ENERGY BODY

Energy work is something that I was really into back as a teenager. If you’re not familiar with it, energy work is just the understanding and acceptance of the fact that you have an energetic body the same way that you have a physical body, and that your energetic body can make real change in your life and the world around you.

It uses things like kundalini meditations, energetic medicines and motions, visualizations and focused energetic placement to achieve outcomes in the physical world.

It’s the same understanding and use of energy that you see with Tai Chi, Qigong and the like.

This course is a good primer and Energy 101 for anyone who’s just starting to learn about how the energetic body works.

I did take away some meditation ideas and visualization techniques from this course that I’ve put into practice and enjoy. I think others could do the same.

MINDVALLEY CLASS: VISHEN LAKHIANI: BENDING REALITY

Vishen Lakhiani owns Mindvalley.com, and he hosts all of the speakers for the Masterclasses. He’s definitely learned from the best, and in this masterclass he shares with us some of the visualization and positive affirmation methods that he’s adopted and has put into place in his life that have given him positive results.

Lakhiani gave us a recipe for a visualization technique that he’s had success using, and resembles a visualization technique used by Harv Eker.

The gist being:

  • See and feel the pain of whatever situation you want to fix.
  • Stop feeling the pain and shift to imaging the solution.
  • See and feel the solution. Feeling what the solution feels like and sending that energy out into the Universe is the most important step.

The course was just okay, not revelatory. It’s more than a little annoying when speakers tell you they have so many more and better methods they’ll teach you once you buy their program. Why not teach us your best, and put up the supplementary info to buy instead? I digress.

COLORADO STATE PARTROL PRIDE

My stepson graduated from the Colorado State Patrol Academy this past weekend. We all got together for a graduation party at his place. Good food, good people, good times. We’re insanely proud of him and can’t wait to see where he takes life.

FLORISSANT FOSSIL BEDS NATIONAL MONUMENT – HIKING, PICNIC, TOURED THE HOMESTEAD

On Sunday we went to the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. We’ve never been there before and weren’t sure what to expect. The kids all got their Junior Ranger guides and badges. We saw the fossils of the petrified redwoods (who knew Colorado had redwood trees?), and hiked around the Petrified Forest Trail which is about a mile. Afterward we had a picnic at the Barksdale Picnic area down the road. On our way home we stopped at the Hornbek Homestead site. I was disappointed because they closed the homestead buildings to visitors hours before the park closed. We could only walk around the outside and peer into the windows. The kids had a great time on the Hornbek Wildlife Trail chasing ground squirrels.

Overall it was a great day, a fun and educational experience, and well worth our time. I’ll post more about it on the website shortly. Our family is working on a Colorado National Park and Monuments campaign I plan to share more about on the site when the pieces are in place.

THIS NEXT WEEK’S FITNESS GOALS

I plan on continuing my fasting morning workouts every day, even though I’m wrapping up the Body Reset Program. I’m going to be starting daily ab workouts next week (seven days a week – ouch!) using an ab workout app I found. I’ll talk more about the details during the week in a stand-alone post. I’m hoping for great results with a laser-focus on getting rid of my belly fat once and for all. Wish me luck!

That’s it for this past week. It felt really busy, but that’s probably because the kids are home running around like little crazy monkeys every day. Keep your eyes peeled for everything mentioned coming down the pipe, and this weeks’ article “Living with Intention” going up later today or tomorrow morning.

As always, thank you for your time and the choice to spend it here with us.
